Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and RoboStem for using Vsimulator. Please read them — by using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Vsimulator (the “Service”, at sim.robostem.org) is a free, browser-based VEX robotics competition simulator operated by ROBOSTEM FOUNDATION INC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered in the United States (“RoboStem”, “we”, “us”, “our”). Your privacy is covered separately in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

1. Eligibility & age

Because accounts are created by logging in with Discord, and Discord requires its users to be at least 13, the following age rules apply:

You must be at least 13 to create an account, play multiplayer, or use any feature that requires logging in.
Children under 13 may not create an account. They may use the offline single-player practice mode only with a parent or guardian’s permission and supervision. That mode requires no account.
If you are 13–15 (or under the digital-consent age where you live, which is up to 16 in parts of the EU), a parent or guardian must read and agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy on your behalf before you use account or multiplayer features.
By using the Service you confirm that you meet these requirements and that any information you provide is accurate.

2. Accounts

The only way to sign in is with Discord. You are responsible for keeping your Discord account secure; activity through your login is your responsibility.
You agree to provide accurate information and not to impersonate others or create accounts on behalf of someone else without authorization.
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us (see Contact), which removes your associated personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.

3. Acceptable use & conduct

To keep Vsimulator safe and fair for everyone, you agree not to:

Harass, bully, threaten, or harm other users.
Choose a username or avatar that is hateful, sexual, harassing, deceptive, or otherwise inappropriate — especially given that many users are minors.
Cheat, exploit bugs, manipulate scores or leaderboards, or use bots or automation to gain an unfair advantage.
Attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its servers.
Use the Service to break the law or to violate the rights of others.

Vsimulator has no in-app chat or private messaging. Players can add friends and see each other’s public Discord username to connect on Discord. Any interaction that happens on Discord is governed by Discord’s own terms and community guidelines, not these terms.

4. Child safety

Many of our users are under 18, and their safety matters to us. We do not allow private messaging on the Service, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we ask everyone to follow the conduct rules above.

If you encounter content or behavior that is harmful to a minor — on Vsimulator or via a Vsimulator user on Discord — please report it to contact@robostem.org. Parents and guardians can contact us at the same address to ask questions, or to review or delete a child’s data. We take reports seriously and may suspend or remove accounts that endanger others.

5. Usernames, avatars & content

You are responsible for the display handle and avatar you choose. You grant us permission to display your handle, avatar, and scores within the Service, including on public leaderboards and to your friends. We may remove or reset a username or avatar that violates these terms.

6. Intellectual property

The Vsimulator software, design, and content are owned by RoboStem and its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial practice and play. You may not copy, sell, or redistribute the Service or create derivative versions of it without our permission.

Not affiliated with VEX. Vsimulator is an independent, fan-made simulator. It is not produced, endorsed by, or affiliated with VEX Robotics, Innovation First International, or the REC Foundation. “VEX” and related names are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to describe compatibility and context.

7. Availability & changes

The Service is provided free of charge and on an “as is” basis. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, and we may update these terms. When we change the terms we will update the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

8. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service, including any account, if you violate these terms or to protect the Service or its users. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. Vsimulator is a simulator for practice and entertainment and does not guarantee that results match real-world VEX competition outcomes.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RoboStem will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that cannot be limited by law, including consumer-protection rights.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which ROBOSTEM FOUNDATION INC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory local consumer-protection laws give you additional rights.
